State Obligations In Land

The rights to land and property are inherent and not granted by the state. The government of Uganda has an obligation to respect, protect and promote these rights, especially in favour of frequently marginalised groups.

Apart from protecting marginalised categories, the government also has obligations to ensure public participation, fight corruption, protect human rights defenders and address climate change in land matters.
